“Đảo Cò” cited as National Relic

On November 16th, the Stork Island (Đảo Cò) in the northern province of Hai Duong will be recognized as National Relic.
Located in Chi Lang Nam commune, Thanh Mien district, the Stork Island is about 25km far from Hai Duong city. 
 
 
Covering an area of over 3,000m2, the stork island is home to 15,000 storks and more than 5,000 herons of various kinds and such rare and precious birds as pelicans and teals residing together.
It is called the stork village because the village has a small island located in the middle of broad lake with ten thousands of storks and herons residing and nesting.
After being named as a National Relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with decision No 2104. to meet tourism demands, Hai Duong planned to define the main destinations in the relic and other supporting services and connected the Stork Island to other areas of interest.
The Hai Duong Tourism Promotion Centre associated with the Thanh Mien district People’s Committee and some travel agencies, to survey the island and surrounding landscapes such as Dong communal house, commemorative house of the late Vice President, Nguyen Luong Bang, Tranh temple, and temple to Khu Thua Du. 
Especially the infrastructure conditions such as roads systems and connectivity, effective sign posting, accommodation providers and restaurants were reviewed.
The centre is building one-day and two-day tours to introduce to travel agencies.
