Nearly 1,000 students to participate in IT Olympiad 2008

The Hanoi Times - Nearly 1,000 students from around 100 colleges and universities in Vietnam will participate in the 17th IT Olympiad and the Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest (Asian round) in HCM City from November 20-23.

The Hanoi Times - Nearly 1,000 students from around 100 colleges and universities in Vietnam will participate in the 17th IT Olympiad and the Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest (Asian round) in HCM City from November 20-23.

 

Particularly, nearly 100 teams have registered for the Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest (Asian round), including 86 Vietnamese teams and 11 foreign teams from South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. 

The contest will take place o­n November 23 at Thong Nhat Palace, HCM City. Each three-member team will have to solve ten application problems with algorithms and programming o­n a single computer within a certain time. 

The winners of this contest will head to the world finals in Stockholm, Sweden in April 2009. 

This is the third time Vietnam has hosted the contest. 

Meanwhile, Vietnamese students will also compete for the Super Cup 2008 at the IT Olympiad 2008. 

This event is co-organised by the Vietnam Information Processing Association, the Vietnam Students’ Association, and the Ministry of Education and Training. 

ACM is an international programming contest for college and university students from around the world.
