At the launching ceremony, Director General of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam Dinh Huu Phi said that technological innovation helps increase enterprises’ assets, enhance the competitiveness in the market. Moreover, it also helps create new inventions and technical solutions, and contributes greatly to boosting the innovation and raising the community’s life quality.

The National Technical Innovation Contest was held for the first time in 2013 for some cities and provinces in southern Vietnam with 146 solutions from different fields of technology such as mechanical engineering, automation, new materials, environment technology, biotechnology technology, Phi said.

The National Technical Innovation Contest 2018 continues to encourage and honor technological creativity that can be widely applied at low cost to better serve the people's life as well as the country’s development, Phi added.

Participating in the contest is not only an opportunity to express the creative power of the organization and the individual, but also the opportunity to promote technical solutions and connect business opportunities with potential investors, said Director General Dinh Huu Phi.

The contest aims to encourage creative and innovative activities in order to create new technologies and solutions that are widely applied to meet practical needs, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development. Useful solutions will be widely promoted in the country and abroad as well as many other supports to push the application into reality, Phi stressed.

According to the organizing board, all Vietnamese citizens living and working in the territory of Vietnam can take part in the competition. The participants need to create technical solutions that are subject to patent protection in all technical fields in production and business, socio-economic life, security and national defense. Especially, the technical solutions must be published for the first time in the country or abroad, or applied first in Vietnam after May 31, 2013.

The National Technical Innovation Contest 2018 will last from August 2018 to April 2019. Also in August, the organizing board will organize orientation workshops to instruct and train on the use of patent information and contest information for interested people.
