The 16th annual National Week on Occupational Health and Safety – Fire and Explosion Prevention was launched in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on March 16.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen urged all-level agencies and businesses to fully implement State regulations concerning health and safety, especially in high-risk sectors, as well as publicising labour safety culture and preventive measures at workplaces.

Latest statistics show that more than 6,600 accidents occurred at work in 2013, killing and injuring 6,887 workers.

The deadly accidents mainly happened in the fields of mining, electricity, and mechanical manufacturing, due to lack of labour safety equipment and training courses.-
