Hanoi Times - The 17th Vietnam Information Technology Week will take place in Hanoi from October 29 to November 2 with a wide range of activities, including exhibitions, seminars and the introduction of outstanding IT products.

Speaking at a press briefing in Hanoi on October 1, Nguyen Long, Secretary General of Vietnam Informatic Association (VIA), affirmed that the annual event provides a good chance for organizations, businesses, managers and individuals engaged in information and communications technology (ICT) to share experiences, introduce products and seek co-operative opportunities.
According to VIA, most provinces, cities and ministries have their own websites, however, the implementation of supplying public administration services and sharing information through the Internet among State management agencies is limited.

Only 27 percent of businesses, mainly big ones, applied IT in their management. According to a draft of the IT application programme among State-owned agencies in the 2007-2010 period, it is planned that 50 percent of State documents will be sent through the Internet and all agencies at provincial and ministerial levels will have e-gateways and 30 percent of businesses will make online reports.
