More than 3,000 participants at mass parade in 6th Ao Dai festival
The festival aims to honor Vietnam’s traditional costume and promote Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism to domestic and foreign visitors.
Over 3,000 women wearing ao dai (traditional long dress) catwalked en masse in Nguyen Hue pedestrian street on March 3.
The event was part of the sixth Ao Dai Festival in Ho Chi Minh City, which is taking place from March 2 to 17.
During the event, thousands of participants in ao dai formed a giant ancient tree at Ho Chi Minh City’s downtown square, which aimed to convey a message of a green and peace-loving city.
The 2019 Ao Dai Festival kicked off on March 2 evening in Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, drawing numerous visitors. This year, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Nie, who sealed a historic top five place of Miss Universe 2018, is the representative of the festival.
The ceremony featured 15 collections of Vietnamese leading ao dai designers like Thu Thuy, Lien Huong and Viet Hung, along with a collection by a designer from South Korea, introducing Vietnam’s ao dai from the perspective of an international friend.
About 15 activities and programs will be held during the Ao Dai Festival, which runs through March 17, across various tourist spots of Ho Chi Minh City, such as Bui Vien and Nguyen Hue pedestrian zones, the city’s post office, the War Remnants Museum, the Ao Dai Museum and public places.
Since 2014, the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival has been held annually in early March. The festival aims to honor Vietnam’s traditional costume and promote Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism to domestic and foreign visitors.
