Anh Kiet - Thuong Hue 15:09, 2020/03/26
UDIC has mobilized its human and material resources to work three shifts per day to soon put the hospital into operation.

Urban Infrastructure Development Investment Corporation (UDIC)'s workers have worked round the clock to finish renovating an unused hospital in just seven days, much ahead of the schedule, to hand it over to the authorities for Covid-19 treatment, Kinhtedothi.vn reported.

The hospital is located in Dai Thinh commune, Me Linh district, north of Hanoi.

"We have worked overnight because the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic is unpredictable. The hospital needs to be completed as soon as possible to treat patients," Dinh Manh Hung, a UDIC worker said.

Hoang Minh Tuan, a technician, and his 30 colleagues are finishing the installation of internet, phone and camera lines.

General Director of UDIC Corporation Nguyen Van Luyen said that although the work is renovation of an abandoned building, the workload is still heavy.

The building has been left unused since 2017, thus many items have been downgraded, most of them need to be repaired, electricity and water systems were not available, while the order is to convert it into a 250 bed hospital, with full medical equipment, Luyen added.

So far, the basic items have been completed and handed over to the city’s Department of Health. The hospital is expected to be put into operation on March 30.

Earlier, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue and Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on March 25 visited and inspected the construction site of the hospital.

Appreciating the efforts of the construction units, Hue said that this is a meaningful project that helps the city get ready to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Hanoi party chief requested the contractor and workers to complete the remaining works, ensuring the highest quality before handing them over.
