Statistics show that mobile devices are the biggest target of new attack trend for purposes such as eavesdropping, fake information, financial attack, data theft and other device attack.
Up to 71.38% of computers and mobile devices in Vietnam are getting infected with malicious viruses, but only 11% of the users are aware they have been victims of cyber attacks, according to statistics from the Authority of Information Security under Ministry of Information and Communications.

Around 170 cyber attacks every one second, of which three cyber attacks are intentional, four malicious codes are released, the
statistics showed.

Over 4.77 million times of Vietnam IP addresses are inside the network of botnet infected virus.

The concern is that 1,020 infected websites are collecting personal information of Vietnamese users. In addition, Vietnam’s IP addresses sending spam to other countries are up to 12,685, the Authority of Information Security said.

The statistics also show that mobile devices are the biggest target of new attack trend for purposes such as eavesdropping, fake information, financial attack, data theft and other device attack.

Trend Micro security firm has recently announced that Vietnam is leading the Southeast Asian countries in cyber attack with more than 86 million threat email messages detected in the first half of 2018. Vietnam is among the 20 countries that are infected by malicious code extortion.

Director General of the Authority Nguyen Thanh Hai said that in Vietnam, shortage of human resources and insufficient awareness from individuals and organizations are the main causes of the attacked incidents.

More than 90% of information security incidents occur due to human factors, mainly because the majority of Vietnamese users are not aware of information security risks, Hai added.

In addition, the proportion of copyright software in general and copyrighted software to prevent malicious code in particular only account for a small percentage, solutions to ensure information security have not been properly used, Hai stressed.
