With 18 stalls, the event presents Hung Yen’s famous "long" longan as well as exceptional products from the districts of Khoai Chau, Kim Dong, Tien Lu, Phu Cu, An Thi and the town of Hung Yen itself, all displayed at Big C Thang Long.
Vu Quang Thang, Director of Hung Yen's Department of Industry and Trade, noted that the "long" longan was recently ranked 13th among Vietnam's top 50 fruits. It has been recognized by the Vietnam Records Organization as the tastiest fruit and granted trademark protection under the name "Long Longan - The Fruit for Kings", as well as geographical indication certification.
According to the department, the province has about 4,700 hectares dedicated to longan cultivation, with an estimated yield of 40,000 tons in 2024.
The week-long event is primarily held at Big C Thang Long as part of the cooperation between the province and the GO! and Big C supermarket chains, according to Le Manh Phong, Managing Director of Big C and GO! in Northern Vietnam. Longan is also distributed through other supermarkets in Hanoi.
He continued by saying that the objective is to cater to Hanoi's customers while increasing visibility and introducing genuine Hung Yen longan to both domestic and foreign clientele.
During the event, Central Retail supermarkets are offering an attractive promotion of up to 33% off, with prices as low as VND29,900 (US$1.2) per kilogram of longan, enticing customers to indulge in this seasonal treat.
