Thu Minh 07:43, 2016/05/20
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held a ceremony in Hanoi on May 17 to launch a website providing information about science and technology in the banking sector at this link www.khoahocnganhang.org.vn.
The launching of the site is part of activities to celebrate the 65th founding anniversary of the banking sector, May 6, and National Science-Technology Day (May 18).
Speaking at the ceremony, SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh said that the State Bank of Vietnam has assigned the Banking Strategy Institute to coordinate with the Banking Academy to operate the portal on a trial basis.
After the test run in four months, the website has accommodated thousands of pieces of scientific data and received tens of thousands of visitors.
Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh witnessed framework agreements on scientific research and data use being signed between the institute and several commercial banks, including VPBank, Vietcombank, Vietinbank, HDBank and LienVietPostBank.

On the same day, the SBV organised a press conference to announce Banking Vietnam 2016, an annual event chaired by the bank and the International Data Group.
This year’s event, which will focus on innovations and creations, will kick off in Hanoi on May 18 with a series of exhibitions and seminars.
Conferences and exhibitions held during the two-day event will promote the use of information technology to create new banking services, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of the local banking system in the face of global integration.
The Banking Vietnam aims to help banks update cutting-edge technology and IT applications to create new products and services while improving their administration and business activities.
During the Asian Banker Summit 2016 held in Hanoi last week, experts said that technology would be the key to domestic banking development, while Vietnam has been becoming more intergrated into the global economy by joining a variety of free trade agreements.
