Khanh Hoa Province welcomes 2 millionth international tourist in 2017

The central province of Khanh Hoa, hosted its 2 millionth international tourist of the year, who landed on a VietJet Air plane from Incheon, South Korea.

The lucky passenger was Korean national Kim Sun-won, who received free accommodation for two nights at the local Vinpearl Nha Trang Resort and six months of free flights on all routes operated by VietJet Air.
The 1,999,999th and 2,000,001st foreign visitors to Khanh Hoa were also from South Korea. In 2017, the province is estimated to welcome nearly 5.5 million visitors and earned about 17.3 trillion VND (761.2 million USD) from tourism activities.
The number of foreign arrivals to Khanh Hoa has to date surpassed 2 million, up 69 percent from last year. The province houses 650 lodging facilities with close to 27,000 rooms, of which over 14,000 meet 3 – 5 star standards.
Meanwhile, the south central Khanh Hoa province’s Department of Tourism said the number of Chinese visitors topped the list of foreign tourists to Nha Trang accounting for more than 1.1 million, up over 230 percent compared to last year’s corresponding period, followed by Russians at 401,000, an increase of over 173 percent.
The provincial department noted foreign visitors to Nha Trang are mainly from China and Russia, while there is a downward trend of 10 to 25 percent in the numbers of visitors from the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, France, and Germany.
Revenues from the tourism sector in 2017 are estimated at VND17 trillion, up 30.8 percent over last year. This year, the number of holiday-makers is projected to be more than 5.4 million, up nearly 20 percent, with foreign arrivals making up 2.02 million, a rise of 73.4 percent.
