Japan Cultural Exchange Festival 2018 kicks off

Hanoi has hosted numerous activities to promote the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan as well as many cooperation programmes in the fields of economy, culture and tourism.
This was announced by Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung at the Japan Cultural Exchange Festival 2018 officially opened on March 23. The festival officially opened at the Ly Thai To Flower Park in Hanoi, as part of the activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic ties.

The four-day festival includes a series of cultural and art exchange activities, introducing the unique cultural characteristics of Japan. The highlight of the event will be a display of 50 trees and 10,000 branches of cherry blossoms, along with several kinds of flowers and bonsai trees from Vietnam.
Over 1,000 actors and actresses from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong will give performances of yosaki - a traditional dance of the Japanese people. In addition, visitors at the festival will have a chance to learn more about the tea culture of Japan, enjoy traditional art forms and the cuisine of the two countries.

On the occasion, Japanese Embassy in Vietnam presented 172 cherry blossom trees to Hanoi. They were planted at Hoa Binh (Peace) Park.
On the same day, the Vietnames and Japanese cuisines officially opened with more than 21 booths to introduced special cuisine from two countries. In which, ten booths was set up bu Japanese Embassy in Vietnam to introduce ramen, soba ramen, yakisoba ramen, takoyaki and sushi, among others.
In addition, 10 booths of Hanoi to introduce special cuisine from Vietnam, including pho, bun thang (hot rice noodle soup), nem ran (fried spring roll), banh cuon (stuffed pancake), banh khuc (Vietnamese spinach sticky rice balls), and banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich).
A number of cultural, sport and traditional art exchange programmes will be held along with events to promote bilateral trade cooperation from March 23 to 26.
