Ireland is always willing to share its experience with the capital city of Hanoi in biotechnology development via the Hanoi Biotech Park Project (HaBiotech), Irish Ambassador to Vietnam John McCullagh said at a meeting with Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh on October 14.

In Ireland, pharmaceutical is one of the important industries generating big revenue, the ambassador said, expecting that this project and the activities of Irish partners and businesses will be supported and facilitated by Hanoi’s authorities.

John McCullagh added that, in recent times, the Embassy of Ireland in Hanoi has carried out numerous cooperation activities in education, research, and development with universities in the capital city.

The Irish side wishes to continue to share experiences with Hanoi in various fields, with a view to mutual development.

At the meeting, the leader of Pacific Land Group, HaBiotech's investor, affirmed the determination and commitment to complete the project. Once operational, the project will be a closed ecosystem with a research and development environment comprising a high-tech park with an environmentally friendly design. 

For his part, Chairman of the Hanoi People'sPeople's Committee Tran Sy Thanh welcomed the strong commitment from Irish Embassy and partners in bolstering cooperation with Hanoi. 

Thanh pledged that the city would accompany the Irish partner to complete the HaBiotech project to bring benefits and contribute to the capital city's development.

The Hanoi mayor asked the relevant departments and agencies to remove difficulties so that the Irish partners could soon complete the master plan and hand over land for project implementation. 

Chairman Thanh also hopes the project will mark another milestone in the good relationship between Vietnam and Ireland.

The Hanoi Biotechnology Park (HaBiotech), located in Nam Tu Liem District, covers an area of about 280 hectares, with an investment of US$250 million for technical infrastructure and service works, high-rise apartments, and another US$800 million for special equipment, including laboratories, centers, research institutes, and universities.
