International visitors to Vietnam rise 25.4% after 10 months
According to the National General Office of Statistics, Vietnam received over 8 million foreign tourists in the past 10 months of this year, up 25.4% over the same period in 2015.
With this positive growth, the country's tourism sector will soon reach the target welcoming 8.5 million international visitors in 2016.
Of which, the number of tourists arriving in Vietnam by air is nearly 6.8 million arrivals, an increase of 31.1% over the same period in 2015, over 120,000 passengers coming by sea, down 14.9% and by road is more than 1,1 million arrivals, a rise of 4.6%.
Growth was recorded in most markets, including China (55.2%), the Republic of Korea (40.1%), New Zealand (35%), Thailand (30.8%), Italy (30.3%), Spain (27.3%), Russia (27.1%), the Netherlands (24.2%), Sweden (22.3%), UK (21.7%), Germany (18.5%), the US (14.2%), France (13.3%), and Japan (10.8%).
In October alone, Vietnam welcomed 812,000 foreign visitors, up 23.3% against the same period last year.
In January-October, the number of domestic tourists is estimated at 53.3 million arrivals. The tourism sector grossed 331,500 billion VND (14.4 billion USD) in the reviewed time, up 19.1% over the same period last year.
According to the Vietnam General Department of Tourism, the tourism sector targets to maintain the growth rate of international and domestic tourists in the remaining months of this year.
The country is expected to welcome approximately 9.6 million international tourists (exceeding 11.3% to the set plan) and 60 million domestic visitors.
