International visitors to Hanoi rise 13% in the first 10 months
According to the report of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Hanoi has witnessed encouraging results in the past 10 months. In the period, the city reached a 13% yearly growth in the number of foreign tourists and a 10% annual rise in tourism revenue.
The VNAT said in the first ten months of this year, the number of foreign tourists to Vietnam reached more than 6.33 million arrivals, a decrease of 4.1% year-on-year.
In October, the number of foreign visitors to the country increased 3.6% against last month and 16.1% compared to the same month last year.
Some big markets with visa exemptions, high spending and long stays saw tourist growth such as the Republic of Korea (up 30.7%); Hong Kong (28%); Singapore (16.9%); Spain (9.8%).
In January-October, Hanoi and HCM City tourism has showed positive results. The capital posted a 13% year-on-year increase in the number of foreign tourists and a 10% annual rise in tourism revenue. The southern economic hub estimated to receive over 3.63 million visitors in the three quarters, up 4.6% year-on-year.
In the remaining months of this year, the Vietnamese tourism sector will implement various measures to attract vacationers, including promotion programmes abroad.
At present, Vietnam is attending the World Tourism Market in the UK from November 2-5 and will take part in a tourism fair in Chengdu city, China this December.
The VNAT will also hold programmes to introduce the Vietnamese tourism in France, Germany, Spain and Belarus to lure tourists from European markets which enjoy visa exemptions,
A new regulation on passport and visa fees, which will take effect on November 23, is expected to attract more foreign holidaymakers to the country.
