Industrial production index rises by 9.7% in the first 10 months
The average index of industrial production in the first 10 months of this year increased by 9.7% against the same period last year, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said on November 2.
According to Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai, Vietnam’s industrial production growth has seen good signs of recovery, so far this year with October’s index rising nearly 3.4% over last month and 8.8% year-on-year.
The average index of industrial production (IIP) in the first 10 months of this year increased 9.7 percent over the same period last year and remained higher than those of the last two years.
In the period, the electricity and manufacturing sectors reached an IIP growth of 11.5% and 10%, respectively.
The mining and liquid and solid waste treatment sectors witnessed successive rises of 8.4% and 7.4 %. Electronics, computers and optical product production sectors also showed high growth.
Meanwhile, the IIP of the coal mining sector rose only slightly by 5.2% while that of cigarette production was 2.7% and garment manufacturing was 5.1%.
HCM City is one of the top localities with strong industrial production recovery with an IIP increase of 13.9% in October and 14% in the first 10 months of 2015.
