HCM City among world’s most exotic destinations to kick-off 2019 travels
Skyscanner has announced its list of the six leading destinations among the most popular picks for travelers to start 2019.
Ho Chi Minh City has been named among the six destinations in the world that can be the most popular picks for tourists to kick-off 2019, according to a list released by Skyscanner, a Scotland travel fare aggregator website and travel metasearch engine.
Ho Chi Minh City, or Saigon as many people still refer to, is the perfect jumping-off point for a trip around Vietnam. “It’s a hearty jumble of rough-and-tumble street food stalls and truly incredible buildings – the Central Post Office was designed by Gustave Eiffel,” Skyscanner wrote.
Skyscanner has some words of advice for travelers that if you want a counter-balance to the joys of Ho Chi Minh City’s coffee shops, banh mi stands and all-night partying in Pham Ngu Lao, take a trip to the War Remnants Museum. It’s an emotional rollercoaster charting the horrors of the Vietnam conflict, and a must-visit for anyone who wants to understand a bit more about the country’s history.
Bangkok (Thailand) tops the list, followed by Manila (Philippines), Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago, Goa (India), Natal (Brazil) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).
Earlier, Ho Chi Minh City has been ranked 5th among the 10 hot travel destinations that are expected to see the sharpest increase of tourists by 2025, according to a list released by TravelSupermarket, a travel deals website.
The survey is based on data from Euromonitor to find out just which major cities will see the fastest percentage growth in tourist arrivals by 2025.
Ho Chi Minh City attracted nearly 4.4 million foreign visitors in the first seven months of 2018, according to the municipal Tourism Department.
In 2018, the city’s Tourism Department plans to complete a tourism development strategy which identifies key tourism products and markets to better serve the demands of both domestic and foreign visitors. The southern metropolis is expected to receive 7.5 million foreign visitors this year.
