During the meeting with Ma Jiangqian, General Director of the Chinese company, in Beijing while on an official visit to China, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked China Railway Sixth Group Co. Ltd, the main contractor of Hanoi’s Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway project, to promptly address existing problems to ensure the project’s scheduled progress.

He asked China to increase investment in Vietnam, particularly in hi-tech agriculture, machinery production, support industries, and renewable energy. It should expeditiously implement the additional loan worth 250 million USD for the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway project in Hanoi, while ensuring the project’s progress and quality to put the facility into operation as scheduled.

PM Phuc said as a big and prestigious State-owned enterprise, China Railway Sixth Group Co. Ltd. should be aware of its responsibility and act immediately to deal with the delay in carrying out the project.

The slow construction has seriously affected the daily activities and traffic in Hanoi, and caused dissatisfaction among the public, he said, noting that some accidents happened during the project implementation and killed several victims.

The Vietnamese PM told the Chinese company to coordinate with Vietnamese partners to ensure absolute construction safety. He also promised to convey the firm’s proposals to relevant ministries and Hanoi authorities for consideration.

Ma Jiangqian reported to the PM difficulties relating to the Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway project. He submitted proposals relating to the project and vowed to complete the basic construction work by the end of December 2016. The executive said the company will strive to put the railway on trial run in July 2017 and start official operation two months later.

** The same day, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Zhao Hongjing, Deputy General Director of Huaxia Xingfu Co. Ltd – a business with infrastructure-related activities. He applauded the cooperation between Huaxia Xingfu and Vietnamese localities, noting that he hopes the firm will make infective investment in Vietnam.

PM Phuc straightforwardly exchanged viewpoints on existing problems in some economic-trade cooperation aspects between the two countries. He stressed that both sides need to urge their agencies and businesses to actively discuss and remove hindrances so as to boost economic and investment relations in a balanced and sustainable manner.

Zhao said the company provides comprehensive solutions for socio-economic development through public-private partnership in such spheres as infrastructure, industrial park and high-speed rail. He expressed the belief in Vietnam’s potential and development prospects and wanted to boost investment in the country in the time ahead.

The maintenance of traditional friendship and the stable, healthy and sustainable development of comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China for the sake of the two nations, the region and the world is a consistent policy, a strategic choice and top priority in the diplomatic policy of the Vietnamese Party and State, he said.
