Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh stressed the view during a meeting on April 6, noting this year serves as an important stepping stone in pushing for the city’s five-year development plan 2021-2025.
According to Anh, the priorities should be given to greater disbursement of public investment, containing the consumer price index (CPI), and expanding industrial production.
In addition to economic objectives, Anh noted the importance of completing the revision of the draft Capital Law; the city’s planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050; the revision of the construction planning for Hanoi until 2030, with a vision to 2050; and the pre-feasibility study on the construction of the Ring Road No.4 before submitting it to the National Assembly and Politburo for approval.

The city’s mayor also urged localities to stand ready to prepare for the emergency of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ahead of the upcoming SEA Games 31, Anh requested all districts and units to ensure the best possible preparation process, from infrastructure facilities to Covid-19 response.
“Hanoi would focus on promoting the image of the capital city and Vietnam during the event to stimulate trade and tourism,” Anh said, expecting this would be a successful SEA Games with a strong impression on international friends.
For the upcoming second quarter, Anh called for Hanoi to take advantage of the subdued Covid-19 situation to focus on economic development and address bottlenecks in the implementation of ODA and foreign projects for speedier disbursement of capital.
“Efficiency in the disbursement of public funds should be the gauge to evaluate the performance of districts and administrative units,” Anh added.
Anh expected a favorable business environment for businesses to focus on business/production activities and contribute to the growth in the new normal.
“Hanoi plans to further cut taxes, fees and subsidize interest rates for commercial loans for businesses and households under the socio-economic recovery program,” he stressed.
