Hanoi's industrial production up 8% in 6 months
Hanoi`s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in June increased 1.1% month-on-month and 8.3% year-on-year, according to the Hanoi Statistics Office.
In June, the mining industry's index saw a decline of 15.4% month-on-month but up 17.2% year-on-year, while the manufacturing and processing industry tacked on 2.4% and 7.7%, respectively.
The production and distribution of electricity rose 4.6% and 6%, while water supply, sewage treatment and water collection increased by 7.9% and 10.1% an monthly and annual basis, respectively.
Some of the industrial subsectors that registered remarkable growth during the January - June period are food processing with 19.1%, clothing production with 9.2%, wood processing with 19.1%, manufacturing of paper and products from paper with 11.6%, medicines and pharmaceutical with 10.5%, prefabricated metal products with 18.4%, and beds and wardrobes with 13.1%.
However, three subsectors recorded industrial production declines, including production of metal down 2.2%, manufacturing of motor vehicles down 4.8%, and electronics down 2.6%.
The consumption index of the processing and manufacturing industry in June rose 0.3% month-on-month and 2.9% year-on-year, leading to an increase of 2% in the first six months.
Of the processing and manufacturing industry, some subsectors experienced higher growth in consumption index than the average, including beverage with 30.3%, clothing production with 16.5%, wood processing with 17.6%, rubber and plastic products with 25.7%, paper and products from paper with 10.7%.
Meanwhile, the inventory index of the processing and manufacturing industry decreased by 0.6% month-on-month, in which some sectors witnessed high inventory index, such as food processing up 7.1%, chemical and chemical products with 3.7%, electronics with 11.6% and manufacturing of motor vehicles with 41.2%.
