Hanoi welcomes roughly 1.5 million foreign tourists in nine months

According to the city Statistics Office, foreign visitors to Hanoi reached approximately 1.5 million in the first nine months of this year, up 17.1% year-on-year.
Of the figure, foreign arrivals visiting the city for recreation made up 80.4% (up 16.4%) while those arriving for business accounted for 16.3% (up 20.4%).
Visitors from the Republic of Korea (RoK) topped the list, with the highest rise of around 47.9%, followed by the UK (42.3%), the US (23.3%), Thailand (20.9%) and France (36.9%).
Tourism turnover of hotels and travel agencies this month increased by 0.5% from the previous month and surged 10.2% year on year.
In September alone, foreign tourist coming to the city by air reached roughly 1,200, up 10.6% over a year earlier while those by sea and road were more than 300,000, up 52.4%.
