Hanoi welcomes nearly 231,000 visitors on Tet festival

Hanoi Tourism Department reported that during the 5-day Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays from January 26-30, the number of tourists to the capital city reached over 230,000 arrivals, up 7.5% against the same period in 2016.
Particularly, during the period Hanoi received about 62,670 international tourists, an increase of 15% over the same period of last year. Most of foreign visitors come from the Republic of Korea, China, Japan, France, Taiwan, Malaysia, Spain and Denmark.
Meanwhile domestic visitors were 168,000 passengers, up 5% compared to the same period in 2016.

The revenue from the tourism reached 731 billion VND, up 10% over the same period of the previous year.
In the Tet holidays, various visitors mainly came some key cultural tourism sites in the capital city such as Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), Ngoc Son Temple, the Museum of Ethnography, Quan Thanh Temple, Tran Quoc Pagoda and Hoa Lo Prison historical relic site.
In the three days of Tet holidays, the Temple of Literature welcomed about 53,000 visitors. From the first to the third day of the first lunar month, the Hoa Lo Prison historical relic site received as many 2,334 tourists, including 369 domestic passengers and 1,965 international visitors.
Meanwhile, the staying of tourists in the city during the 2017 Tet holidays remained stable. The services price at accommodation facilities was relatively stable compared to the same period last year. The average capacity of room utilization in the period reached about 55.45%, up 0.05% over the same period last year.
The leading markets with the largets number of international tourists to Hanoi during the Tet festival included the Republic of Korea, Japan, France, the US, Australia, the Southeast Asia and China.
