Hanoi welcomes more than 1 million foreign visitors in first 2 months of 2018
More than 1 million international tourist arrived to Hanoi in the first two months of 2018, increasing by 31% compared to 2017, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.
Meanwhile, Hanoi welcomed more than 4.5 million visitors in the first two months of 2018, up 11% from last year. Domestic tourist arrivals to Hanoi were estimated at more than 3 million, increasing 5.5% from last year. The capital of Vietnam earned over VND13.2 trillion (US$583 million), increasing 12% from last year.
In February, 2018, Hanoi welcomed more than 2 million tourists, increasing 9% compared to 2017. The figure included 506.944 international tourists, up 22% from last year with its estimated revenue at VND6.6 trillion (US$291 million), up 7% from last year, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.
Most visitors flocked to the city’s popular attractions, like Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Huong Son landscape complex (also known as the Huong Pagoda), Ngoc Son Temple in the heart of Hoan Kiem Lake, Van Mieu (the Temple of Literature) and Quoc Tu Giam (the first university in Vietnam).
Hanoi expects to welcome 5.5 million foreigners among over 25.4 million tourists in 2018. Hanoi is increasing communications campaigns and tourism development cooperation abroad to reach the goal, Director of the Municipal Department of Tourism Tran Duc Hai was quoted as saying.
The capital of Vietnam will participate in tourism conferences and cooperation activities held by the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asian Pacific Cities (TPO) and launch collaboration and survey programmes in Japan, South Korea and Australia, among others.
It will also attend the annual conference of the Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia (CPTA) 2018 in Malaysia and cooperate with CPTA members to make movies promoting tourism and build instruction boards in foreign languages in popular tourist destinations.
Hanoi will focus on developing high-quality products at favourite destinations, such as the world heritage site of Thang Long imperial citadel, Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace.
