Hanoi to strengthen cooperation with nations in the region
Implementing programs for external activities in 2016 of Hanoi People`s Council and Hanoi People`s Committee, with the consent of the Permanent Secretariat, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee led a delegation to visit and work in Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia in December, 2016.
The visit and work aim to enhance exchanges, promote friendship and cooperation relations between the Capital of Hanoi with other countries in ASEAN region, take advantage of the available potential of the opportunities opened up, the potential for future cooperation.
* In Myanmar: Strengthening cooperation in the fields of urban planning, promotion of investment, trade and tourism.
In the framework of the mission, on December 5, in Naypyidaw, the delegation had a courtesy visit and work with Mr. Myo Aung, Chairman of Naypyidaw City, Myanmar's Capital. At the meeting, the Chairman introduced with Hanoi's delegation about Naypyidaw's situation of socio-economic development in particular and Myanmar in general.
Deputy Secretary of Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang thanked for his open sharing and exchange and affirmed that in orientation throughout its development, the city of Hanoi aims to focus on developing relationships and friendly cooperation with partners around the world, especially consolidation and expansion of cooperation with the capital cities of ASEAN. The visit of Hanoi's delegation to Myanmar this time aims to implement the results of the visit to Vietnam by Burma President in October, 2016, implement the recent agreements of the two countries' senior leaders.
* In Indonesia: Enhancing cooperation, exchange of experiences on the management, urban development, investment promotion, preservation and promotion of the values of cultural heritage, the promotion and development of tourism.
Following the work program, on December 9, in Indonesia, the delegation had a meeting with Mr. Sahat Parulian, Jakarta Deputy Governor.
At the meeting, Deputy Permanent Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang has briefed the situation of socio-economic development of Hanoi in recent years. Deputy Permanent Secretary stressed, in the process of socio-economic development, Hanoi has always called for and create favorable conditions for foreign investors, among them Indonesian businesses to invest, do business in Hanoi. In terms of direct investment, there are 8 projects that Indonesia capital investors are licensed to operate in Hanoi with a total registered capital of $123 million, including a number of major projects such as: Pullman project (65.9 million dollars), Hanoi International Hospital Ciputra (52.6 million USD).
Thanking for the sharing of Deputy Permanent Secretary, the Deputy Governor Parulian Sahat stressed that Vietnam and Indonesia have traditional relations, friendship and cooperation between the two peoples. In the immediate future, the two sides signed to soon conduct a cooperation agreement on the exchange of expert delegations in the field of planning, urban management in 2017, while confirming and highly appreciating significant visit of Hanoi's high-level delegation that has contributed to strengthening and developing the friendly relations between the two governments and people of Jakarta and Hanoi.
* In Malaysia: Expanding bilateral cooperation relations between Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur, investment promotion, trade promotion, bidirectional tourism.
On December 13, Hanoi's delegation continued to visit and work in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Here, the delegation had the meeting with Mr. Datuk Seri MHD. Amin Nordin ABD. Aziz, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur.
Implementing the overall development strategy of Hanoi Capital in 2030, with vision to 2050, Hanoi is focusing on investment in infrastructure development, administrative reform procedures, creating investment and business environment through favorable moment, protecting the environment, ensuring social security. During orientation throughout its development, the Capiatl of Hanoi is focusing on developing friendly and cooperative ties with partners around the world, especially to the consolidation and expansion of cooperation with the Capitals and cities in ASEAN.
Mayor of Kuala Lumpur welcomed the visit of the delegation and expressed his desire to promote cooperation, strengthen investment with Hanoi in the near future, and expressed particular concern from Malaysians in general and commercial business communities of Kuala Lumpur in particular with reputable products, high quality of Hanoi such as agricultural products, traditional products of the village in the Capital. The two sides have agreed to communicate the specialized agencies to coordinate research organization, suggest investment promotion, trade and tourism in 2017 and the coming years.
Hanoi delegation's visit to three countries in the region was successful, contributing to the expansion and strengthening of cooperation between Hanoi and the capital cities of the nations in the ASEAN. The content of cooperation discussed during the visit and work opens up new prospects for economic cooperation - trade - investment, culture - tourism; will be the premise for practical, efficient, deeper cooperation between Hanoi Capital and the cities of Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia in the near future.
