Hanoi to offer free wifi in Trinh Cong Son walking street
Visitors to Trinh Cong Son walking street, Tay Ho district, Hanoi will have the chance to use free wifi in the third quarter of 2018.
The information was announced by Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, Vice Chairman of Tay Ho district People’s Committee.
Leaders of Tay Ho district are working with Viettel Group, Vietnam's largest mobile network operator to set up a free wifi system for Trinh Cong Son walking street, which is projected to complete in the third quarter of 2018.
In addition, leaders of Tay Ho district have worked to set up additional lighting system in the area, as well as enhance vehicle management, security, environmental sanitation and food safety.
Trinh Cong Son walking street, Hanoi’s second pedestrian street near West Lake opened in May 2018 to offer additional entertainment to residents and visitors. Along with the street, the pedestrian space also contains part of Alley 431 Au Co street and Alley 612 Lac Long Quan street. The street, named after Trinh Cong Son, one of Vietnam’s greatest songwriters, is designed to be a venue of art displays, performances of traditional and contemporary art genres, and folk games.
Art performances and sport activities are frequently held at the walking area, with the participation of artists from the Hanoi Cheo (popular theatre) and Cai luong (reformed opera) Theatres, among others. A variety of folk games are also organised such as game of squares and jumping rope, attracting many children.
One month after its launch, the walking street has drawn a large number of people on weekends, with an average of 5,000 - 6,000 visitors per week, according to the Tay Ho district People’s Committee.
The first pedestrian space of Hanoi is the streets around Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi's Old Quarter, which are popular destinations for Hanoians and tourists.
