Hanoi to implement traffic safety and order tasks in the end of 2017
The Hanoi People’s Committee has recently issued Announcement 940/TB-UBN940/TB-UBND, stating conclusion of Chairman of Municipal People’s Committee at the conference to review traffic safety and order in seven months and implement key tasks for the last months of 2017.
Under the plan, city’s departments, agencies, unions, local governments at all levels and political organizations further implement Year of Traffic Safety 2017 campaign themed “Building traffic culture among the youth”.
The Department of Transport, Hanoi Police Department, relevant departments, agencies, sectors and localities cooperate with each other, take comprehensive measures to arrange traffic, check congestion places to assess reasons and find out solutions in order to handle them and prevent traffic jams which last more than 30 minutes.
The Hanoi Police Department, Department of Transport and relevant units increase examination and control, tighten management of transport, and arrange traffic flow in bus stations scientifically. They also severely fine violations, such as unlicensed buses and stations, improper parking, overloaded and oversized trucks, striving to meet people’s demand of transport and protect traffic works. It is expected that the number of traffic accidents, deaths and injuries is decreased in 2017.
The Department of Transport proactively cooperates with departments, agencies, sectors and localities to prepare a plan on realizing the project “Increasing management of road traffic to decrease traffic congestion and environmental pollution in Hanoi in the period of 2017 to 2020, vision to 2030” launched by the Municipal people’s Committee; coordinates with the Hanoi Transport Corporation to amend project “Increasing service quality and developing public bus transport system in Hanoi in the period of 2016 to 2020, orientation to 2030”.
People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts and towns proactively cooperate with the Department of Transport, Police Department, departments, agencies, sectors and relevant units to arrange traffic, settle encroachment upon safety corridors of roads, railroads and inland waterways, timely handle flood in some streets, deal with unlicensed businesses and encroachment upon roadsides and pavements, and improve urban landscape and environmental sanitation.
