Hanoi to hold meaningful activities in response to Earth Hour 2017

Responding to the Earth Hour 2017 Campaign in Vietnam, the Electricity Corporation of Hanoi (EVN HANOI) will organise a ceremony to launch the campaign on March 21 in the capital city to raise public awareness of climate change adaptation and energy saving.
 
Hanoi to hold many meaningful activities in response to Earth Hour 2017
Responding to the Earth Hour 2017 Campaign in Vietnam with the theme “Light off to turn on the future”, the Electricity Corporation of Hanoi (EVN HANOI) will organise a ceremony to launch the campaign  on March 21 in the capital city to raise public awareness of climate change adaptation and energy saving.
The ceremony was attended by the ambassadors of the Earth Hour 2017 Campaign in Vietnam, leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group, EVN HANOI and 300 employees of EVN HANOI.
According to EVN HANOI, local residents will be encouraged to turn off unnecessary electric devices from 20:00 - 21:30 p.m on March 25, and a switch-off ceremony scheduled to be held at the August Revolutionary Square. 
Being held in 63 cities and provinces nationwide, the Earth Hour 2017 Campaign with the theme “Light off to turn on the future” includes activities to encourage businesses, households and schools to save and use power effectively. Cycling and running events will take place alongside to promote this year’s campaign.
Activities connecting businesses and the Earth Hour 2017 Campaign will be held in Hanoi, Da Nang and HCM City to call on 2,000 firms to commit to saving power and becoming this year’ campaigners.
Hanoi city willl work with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organise various activities to promote the campaign through different events such as cycling, running, competitions on environmental protection and energy saving and volunteering. Organisations, schools, businesses and households will be encouraged to participate in the campaign.
Earth Hour, organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), is a worldwide grassroots movement uniting people to protect the planet. 
Earth Hour campaign was first launched in Vietnam in 2009.
More than 1,000 businesses and organisations across the country have joined the effort. The campaign has received support from the people across the country and local residents.
