Hanoi to create the best business environment for investors and business

It was confirmed by Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung in APEC dialogue with the theme "Creating new dynamism for growth and integration", which was held in Hanoi on December 8 evening. This shows the Capital`s determination to seek opportunities for cooperation and integration in APEC to promote growth.
This important dialogue session saw the attendance of 300 representatives of international organizations and the region, the APEC member economies, with nearly 100 representatives of chambers of commerce, associations, businesses from member economies of APEC and Vietnam. The main speaker of the dialogue is Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung; Executive Director of APEC Secretariat Alan Bollard International; Director of the International Secretariat of APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Antonio Basilio; representatives of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam (VCCI), Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Speaking at the dialogue, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung confirmed that the business community in Asia - Pacific region, including APEC member firms have very important contribution to the process of socio-economic development of Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular.

Up to now, the direct investment of APEC economies in Hanoi reached over 3,300 projects with a total investment of over 22 billion US dollars, accounting for 90% of the total number of projects and total FDI in the city, led by Japan, Korea, Singapore, the United States. Especially, in 2016 alone, investors in APEC has invested in Hanoi nearly 400 projects with a total registered capital of more than $2 billion.

Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung confirmed that the investment projects of the APEC enterprises not only promote economic development, contribute to exports and budget revenues of the city but also create more jobs and provide products and services with high quality to contribute to improve living standards for the Capital's people, creating accents in modern urban appearance of Hanoi.

In opening trend of deeper and broader integration into the world's economy, Hanoi has many favorable conditions for businesses to invest and do business: stable political environment; favorable geographical location to reach northern markets and economic zones connecting Mekong subregion; friendly relations and cooperation with more than 100 cities, the Capitals of other countries and many international organizations; history of thousand-year culture with more than 5,000 rated historic heritages; with high-qualified, hardworking and friendly human resources.

With the determination to affirm the central role of political - national administration, a growth engine and affiliate of the Red RiverDdelta and even Vietnam, Hanoi has made an attempt to implement programs and plans to support planning and facilitating maximum convenience for the production and business of enterprises. City authorities are determined to reform administrative procedures, strong implementation of specific measures on investment procedures, access to land, power, tax procedures, electronic customs procedures, that aim at improving good business environment for investors and businesses.

In an effort of gaining proactive, positive international integration and strengthening foreign economic cooperation to serve socio-economic development and support businesses in the manufacturing, Hanoi appreciated 3 focuses of APEC cooperation forum on business facilitation, trade liberalization, investment and economic & technical cooperation. Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung expects that APEC 2017 will focus on effective implementation of the priority directions of sustainable growth, cover, creativity, economic integration in the region, enhancing competitiveness for micro businesses, small and medium-sized businesses as well as ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture, becoming safe and successful investment destination of businesses at home and abroad.

Before hosting the banquet for delegates, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung again reaffirmed the commitment: the Capital of Hanoi is ready to welcome and always create a development and cooperation environment with enterprises and hopes that more APEC partners will see Hanoi as a trusted destination for cooperation and investment for the common prosperity.
