What outstanding results has the Hanoi information and communications industry achieved in 2020?
Although Covid-19 impacted the industry last year, the information and communications industry has achieved some remarkable results.
Regarding telecommunications, the Department of Information and Communication in cooperation with telecom carriers has promoted the deployment of 4G networks and test of 5G networks and services in the city. In December 2020, two Vietnamese-run Viettel and VNPT conducted 5G network testing in Hanoi.
Regarding electronic information, the industry has monitored information on social networks to remove bad and false information about the 13th National Party Congress and the fight against Covid-19.
Regarding the operation of the media, the department has advised the municipal People's Committee to effectively implement the project of reorganizing media outlets according to the national press development and management planning until 2025. The Department proposed solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of the planned press agencies.
What are the results in implementing 4G and 5G in the capital and the 2021 plan?
Telecommunication infrastructure must be one step ahead and ready to meet all needs of digital platforms. The Department in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications has instructed telecom carriers to expand and improve the quality of 4G and 5G networks in the capital.
Currently, Hanoi has more 9,000 3G and 4G base transceiver stations and 213 5G stations deployed to test the service since the end of 2020.
The Department will continue to instruct mobile operators on promoting 4G development, evaluating the results of 5G test deployment for expansion this year and the following years.
The Department will offer solutions to share technical infrastructure between operators and the electricity, water and transportation sectors to meet the deployment requirements of the 5G network.
How has the department solved negative issues such as spam text messages, emails, and calls?
The Department has requested the People’s Committees of districts, towns and press agencies to strengthen communication on the fight against spam messages, emails, and calls among the city’s subscribers.
Service providers were required to offer technical measures to prevent spam text messages, emails and calls as directed by the Telecommunications Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications.
The Department understands that combating spam messages, emails, and calls is a major task to protect Internet users against the troubles.
