On November 29 afternoon, at the meeting of Hanoi People`s Committee, representatives of the Department of Construction (MoC) said that in the period of 2016 -2020 plan, Hanoi is expected to allocate about 54.000 billion for infrastructure development of urban drainage and waste water treatment.

The meeting aimed to help researchers, managers and experts share experience in water environment management. Main topics discussed during the conference were water management and water treatment technology.
Participants exchanged views on coastal and marine water environment, urban flooding and its health consequences and groundwater pollution control. They also discussed climate change and water environment management, water supply and treatment, emerging contaminants and environmental technology and appropriate technology for water and sanitation.
Water treatment technology in Vietnam should include technical quality while meeting economic requirements and weather conditions as well as processed objects. There are conflicts between the goals of environmental protection, sustainable development and short-term economic growth in localities, while the capacity of environmental management cannot meet the increasing demand. Therefore, it is urgent to increase the capacity of State management of natural resources and water environment at all levels.
According to Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, this provision would be a scientific basis to determine the level of environmental pollution from waste water in residential areas (urban and rural municipality) as well as industrial parks and clusters. On that basis, all households as and drainage facilities on waste water treatment will have responsibility to share costs for protecting the general environment in the community.
