The figures were revealed on March 30 by the Hanoi Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at the launch of this year's donation drive to raise money for the Fund.

The Fund seeks to assist officers, soldiers, and island residents nationwide.

People and public employees in Dong Da and Hoang Mai districts gave VND2 billion ($28,217) each, those in Long Bien and Cau Giay districts contributed VND1.8 billion ($76,615) each, and in Hai Ba Trung District, VND1.4 billion ($59,589) were raised.

Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Hanoi Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, praised organizations and people's contributions to the Fund.

She has urged agencies, units, businesses, religious groups, individuals, officers, soldiers, and citizens of the capital to maintain national unity toward the beloved sea and islands and actively support the city's Fund for Vietnam's Sea and Islands in 2023.

Last year, the city raised more than VND40 billion ($1.7 million) for the Fund for Vietnam's Seas and Islands.

In 2021, Hanoi's Fund raised over VND52 billion ($2.2 million), the highest ever. In 2021, the city received over VND40 billion ($1.7 million) from many organizations and agencies in Hanoi.
