Hanoi promotes trade, and investment with Kyushu (Japan)

Hanoi values Japan as an essential partner and is committed to creating optimal conditions for Japanese businesses and investors interested in investing and operating in the city.

As part of its official visit to Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan, Hanoi’s high-ranking delegation, in cooperation with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka hosted a "Hanoi – Kyushu 2023 trade – investment conference" on November 11.

This initiative aims to foster connections, exchanges, and cooperation between Hanoi and the Kyushu region, a Japanese area known for its economic and technological potential, comprising eight prefectures in southwest Japan, with Fukuoka Prefecture being the largest.

The event was attended by the Consul General of Vietnam in Fukuoka Vu Chi Mai, representatives of organizations such as the Kyushu Business Association, Vietnam-Kyushu Trade and Investment Promotion Business Association, and the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka.

Japanese businesses, investors, and overseas Vietnamese businesses were also present, all seeking investment, business, and trade collaboration opportunities.

In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ha Minh Hai emphasized Hanoi's status as a safe, attractive, and promising destination for businesses and foreign investors.

“Hanoi values Japan as an essential partner and is committed to creating optimal conditions for Japanese businesses and investors interested in investing and operating in the city,” said Hai.

As part of the discussion, city leaders witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Hanoi Promotion Agency and the Association of Trade and Tourism Promotion Enterprises for Vietnamese  Investment in Kyushu, Japan.

This agreement focuses on enhancing trade and investment promotion activities between Hanoi and the Kyushu region. Another Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in education, improving Japanese language training, and developing high-quality human resources, was signed between the Me Linh District People's Committee and the Japanese Language Academy (GAG).

During the event, the delegation held a side discussion with representatives of the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka.

Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen expressed satisfaction with the growth of a close-knit community of nearly 25,000 Vietnamese in Fukuoka.

Tuyen praised the significant role played by the Vietnamese Overseas Association in Fukuoka and congratulated them on the success of their 3rd Congress in September 2023.

Tuyen shared her confidence in the new Executive Committee and hoped that it would further advance the achievements and contribute to building a resilient Vietnamese community in Kyushu, particularly in Fukuoka, fostering development and strength and becoming a cultural bridge between the two nations.

On the same day, the delegation also visited the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka. Tuyen lauded the positive efforts of the Vietnamese Consulate General in enhancing cooperative relations between Vietnam and Japan, particularly within the Kyushu region. Discussions centered on promoting and elevating Vietnam-Japan relations, with the delegation expressing hope that the Consulate General would continue fostering liaison activities, and local-level collaboration, and introduce businesses in Japan interested in investing in Hanoi.

Additionally, they reiterated their commitment to caring for, accompanying, and supporting the Vietnamese community in Fukuoka for their well-being, education, and contribution to the socio-economic development of both countries.

The "Vietnam and Hanoi Festival" event in Fukuoka, which began with a joyful and dignified opening on November 10, continued with art performances, product displays, introductions, and Vietnamese cuisine. The three-day festival which aims to create a distinctive cultural atmosphere for the people of Fukuoka prefecture,  concluded on November 12.
