Hanoi plans to build 204 public parking lots downtown

As for public parking lots, in the period of 2025-2030, Hanoi is expected to invest about 1,334 projects, the total investment is estimated at VND231.72 trillion (US$9.96 billion).
It is expected that from now to 2025, Hanoi will build 204 public parking lots downtown with an investment of hundreds of trillions of Vietnam dong, according to the planning of bus stations, parking lots, logistics centers and stopovers in Hanoi to 2030, with a vision to 2050 by the Hanoi People's Committee.

Under the proposal, in the period of 2018 - 2025, the downtown parking lots will have a total area of 183.56ha with a total investment of about VND29,872 billion (US$1.28 billion), mostly funded by the private sector. 

In the period of 2025 - 2030, the city will carry out 12 projects for car terminals in satellite cities (Phung, Cam Thuong, Xuan Khanh, Bac Hoa Lac, Nam Hoa Lac, Xuan Mai, Mon Men, Phu Xuyen, Mai Dinh, Tan Minh), with a total area of about 57ha and a potential investment of about VND3.25 trillion (US$139.9 million), according to the proposal.

As for public parking lots, in the period of 2025-2030, the city is expected to invest about 1,334 projects, the total investment is estimated at VND231.72 trillion (US$9.96 billion).

74 underground parking lots to be built in Hanoi

The proposal includes Yen So bus station, with an area of ​​about 3.4 hectares to share the burden of the existing bus stations. 

In the long term, seven new inter-provincial bus terminals will be added to the existing ones to serve the central city (including 10ha of the bus station in the north, 5.3ha of Dong Anh bus station, 10.4ha of the bus station in the south, 7ha of Yen Nghia bus station, 5ha of the bus station in the west, 15ha of the bus station in the west north (Phung).

Hanoi's satellite urban centers will have bus terminals as well. In addition, small urban areas will have small car terminals of 1 to 5 ha to meet the resident demand.  

In satellite urban centers, Hanoi will plan passenger terminals according to the general planning of satellite towns that has been approved, including Phu Xuyen satellite urban center (5ha), Xuan Mai satellite terminal with two stations (6ha), Hoa Lac satellite city with three wharves (15ha), Son Tay satellite city with four wharves (10.65ha), Soc Son satellite city with three wharves (7.5ha). 

Regarding the planning of the parking lot network, the Hanoi People's Committee will build 1,480 public parking lots downtown with a total area of ​​1,197.8ha.

Of these, 74 parking lots will be underground (accounting for 5%, mainly in the historical quarter), 450 will be high-rise parking lots (30.4%). The remaining public parking lots will be built in accordance with the zoning plan and the approved detailed planning.
