Hanoi on the way to fulfill yearly socio-economic targets
On August 1, Hanoi chairman Nguyen Duc Chung chaired the monthly meeting to review the city’s socio-economic performance of July and set out tasks and orientations for August. The meeting listened to the city’s July socio-economic report by the director of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Manh Quyen.
According to the report, the manufacturing index of July increased by 6.2% compared to that of the previous month, and up 9% in comparison to the same period of last year. Overall, the manufacturing index after seven months of 2017 increases by 6.1% compared to that of the same period in 2016.
In July, Hanoi attained an export turnover of 980 million USD, an increase of 2.2% in comparison to the previous month and 9.1% compared to the same period of last year. The value of import in July was approximately 2.4 billion USD, down by 0.5% compared to June and up 21.1% compared to the same period of 2016. The CPI (Consumer Price Index) rose 0.23% in comparison to the month of June, and 3.53% compared to the same period in 2016.
The number of tourists taking accomodations in Hanoi in July reached 696 thousand including 448 thousand domestic tourists (2.2% increase) and 248 thousand international tourists (16.2% increase compared to July 2016). After seven months, the total amount tourists taking accomodations in Hanoi has reached 5.12 million, increasing by 7.42%. The total revenue reached 34,732 billion VND or 1.5 billion USD increasing by 8.2% in comparison to the same period of 2016.
The state budget collected 111,045 billion VND or 5 billion USD worth of revenue in Hanoi in the first seven months of 2017 fulfilling 55.7% of the year budget revenue estimation, a rise of 9.2% in comparison to the same period of 2016. The Hanoi budget spending the first seven months of the year is 31,389 billion VND, or 1.5 billion USD making up 40.3% of estimation.
Regarding the objectives and solutions for the remaining months of the year, the Director of Hanoi Planning & Investment Department said consistent measures will be put in place to ensure the economic growth as instructed by the Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee.
Specifically, administrative agencies will carry out measures designed to stimulate consumption, connecting demand and supply with other provinces/cities, improving efficiency in market management against fake and smuggled products. On the other hand, the city will continue to encourage the expansion of retail chain stores for fresh and safe agricultural products, increase cooperation and linkage among tour packages in Hanoi.
Hanoi will also call for investment in industrial complex, put effort in rapid and effective disbursement in construction. All projects which have been kicked off in the period of 2017-2020 will be given priority for review and approval . As part of effort to improve the investment environment, administrative agencies are requested to continue simplifying procedures for investors, especially for large scale projects commencing in 2017. Moreover, Hanoi will finish selling 16 state owned enterprises (SOEs), restructuring 03 SOEs and divestment in 96 SOEs.
In terms of ensuring public order and urban development, Hanoi People’s Committee will reorganize and relocate parking lots and continue with burying power cable network in 46 streets and planting one million trees. Public services such as water and electric supply, environmental safeguards, lightning system will also be improved.
