The development of high technologies is one of Hanoi’s priorities in 2024.

During a visit to Hanwha Aero Engines LLC, CEO of the company Nam Hyung Wook revealed that the plant has been invested with a total capital of US$200 million and plans to expand investment to $260 million in a total area of approximately 97,000 sqm at Hoa Lac High-tech Park to manufacture aircraft engine components and parts.

He stated that in 2023, the company achieved a revenue of about $140 million, with expectations to significantly exceed the 2024 plan for the manufacturing of high-tech products by about 40%, and the company's revenue is projected to grow by around 17%.

During this period, Hanwha Aero Engines continues to expand its production scale at Hoa Lac, creating employment opportunities for many local workers and positively contributing to the socio-economic development of the capital city.

Visiting the factory and encouraging all Hanwha Aero Engines employees, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh emphasized that this is the first year that the management of the Hoa Lac High-tech Park has been transferred from the Ministry of Science and Technology to Hanoi.

“The development of high technology is one of Hanoi's concerns, especially the core units in the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park,” said Thanh.

He commended the development achievements of Hanwha Aero Engines over the past time, which has positively contributed to the socio-economic development of the city and created jobs for workers. In particular, the proportion of Vietnamese employees in the company is 97%, and most of them live in Thach That District.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, Thanh expected Hanwha Aero Engines LLC to exceed its set targets, laying the groundwork for new orders and successful, safe production activities in 2024.

On the same day, the city’s mayor visited FPT Hanoi Software Co., Ltd. Hanoi and FPT Software Village. Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT Corporation, stated that in 2023, FPT Hanoi Software achieved a revenue of $1 billion, earning profits and hard currency from overseas to Vietnam through the expertise of Vietnamese people; the goal by 2030 is to achieve a revenue of $5 billion.

The CEO of FPT Corporation said that education is one of the directions FPT will focus on in 2024. Specifically, the corporation will focus on education from primary to university level, postgraduate education, and vocational education, especially the high school-college program.

"FPT hopes to contribute even more to high-quality human resources for the country in general and Hanoi in particular," Khoa said, adding that the infrastructure at Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park will be the "hub" for the corporation's training in the coming time.

Acknowledging FPT Corporation's remarkable development, Chairman Thanh emphasized that FPT has built its distinctive corporate culture, which is a driving force for business development. FPT's leadership generations have always been able to inspire the intellectual workforce, fostering the development of the education ecosystem, and training human resources for Vietnam and the region, Thanh said.

He sincerely thanked FPT for its valuable support to Hanoi, noting that FPT has supported the city in implementing public services in all districts and towns in a short period.

On behalf of the city's leadership, Thanh wished FPT Corporation to have more orders and contracts, and create jobs for workers; the leadership and employees of the corporation will uphold its corporate culture, contributing to building the capital city.

According to the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park Management Board, the park has attracted 104 investment projects, with a total registered capital of nearly VND100 trillion ($4.26 billion), employing nearly 30,000 people.

Numerous scientific and technological research facilities have been established within the park, including the Vietnam Space Center, the Small Satellite Control Station of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the Center for Research, Application Development and Technology Transfer of the Institute of Technology Application under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Center for Research, Transfer, and Assessment of Technology in Hanoi.

Established by the prime minister in 1998, the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park is on its way to becoming a leading science city specializing in the country's research and manufacturing of scientific goods. Its objective is to serve as a national center for research, development, and application of advanced technologies. The park also features a high-tech incubator and aims to contribute to the training of skilled human resources, as well as the development, supply, and trade of high-tech products.

Covering an area of 1,586 hectares, the park is situated in the Thach That and Quoc Oai districts and comprises eight functional areas and supporting zones such as lakes, buffer zones, and green areas. The anticipated population of the tech park is expected to reach 229,000 people by 2030. As of May 2023, a total area of 1,410 hectares has been cleared for development.
