Hanoi makes efforts to reduce traffic accidents

Hanoi Traffic Safety Committee has just issued Official Document No. 43/BATGT-VP, assigning departments, sectors, agencies, organizations; People’s Committee, Traffic Safety Committee of districts, towns to implement the direction of the Government.

Accordingly, to carry out key tasks as directed by the Government on ensuring traffic order and safety in the last months of 2017, with the goal of reducing traffic accidents on all three criteria (the number of cases, the death toll and the number of injured people) and mitigating traffic congestion in the area, the city police must continue to drastically and effectively implement the Prime Minister's directives on ensuring traffic order and safety. Functional forces shall intensify the patrol, control and resolutely handle strictly violations of traffic order and safety in road, railway, inland waterway; the illegal encroachment of roads, street pavilions causing disorder, etc.

Department of Transport must strengthen inspection and examination on the work of training, testing and issuing driver’s licenses; management of technical safety and environmental protection for means of road motor vehicles, inland waterway; prioritize the use of funds from Road Maintenance Fund to make speed bumps and dangerous warning signs in all road crossings with railways on national highways, provincial highways and develop a plan to resolutely eliminate black spots on traffic accidents; develop traffic monitoring software and cameras system to monitor traffic on main roads and record violations to issue fines; strengthen force to  directs traffic flow to prevent traffic jams at the school gates, marketplaces, hospitals, bus stations and traffic junctions without traffic lights in the locality, especially in rush hours.

Department of Information and Communications to collaborate with Department of Transport, People’s Committee of districts and towns, Traffic Safety Board and relevant units to enhance communication and dissemination of the provisions of the law on ensuring traffic safety and order, safe driving skills to drive trucks and so on.
