Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre will launch an automatic guiding system for smart phone users in late January 2018 to support visitors of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long.
The “Hoang thanh Thang Long” (Imperial Citadel of Thang Long) application can be downloaded on the App Store or CH Play for free. It includes illustrations and videos to guide visitors around the relic site.

The application is developed in three languages, including Vietnamese, English, and Japanese. The highlight feature of the application is explaining documentation on Imperial Citadel of Thang Long’s history for users interested in discovery through reading. Photo albums contain the most characteristic images of each relic. Meanwhile, the videos on this application can help users learn more about the history of the relics artifacts displayed in Imperial Citadel of Thang Long.
In addition, there are also introductions of tourism activities in the Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long-Hanoi, including ticket  prices, opening times, facilities, and services provided to visitors. There is also a list of nearby attractions, restaurants, and cafés around the site.
The centre will work with the app developers to add French and Chinese language options later this year, as well as improve other functions, reported Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre.
An intriguing relic of Vietnam and a site of historical and cultural importance, the Imperial Citadel was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. Many artefacts and items dating back to between the 6th and 20th centuries were excavated in 2004, including foundations of old palaces, ancient roads, ponds, and wells.
On top of these discoveries, archaeologists also found bronze coins, ceramics, and pottery from across Asia, all of which demonstrates close trading relations with the area.
Hanoi expects to welcome 25 million arrivals in 2018, up 7% against the previous year, including 5.5 million, up 11% compared to 2017. To reach this goal, Hanoi is increasing communications campaigns and tourism development co-operation abroad, said Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism, Tran Duc Hai.
In addition, the Vietnamese capital will focus on developing high-quality products at popular destinations, such as the world heritage site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Temple of Literature, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace.
