The two sides will also agree on other cooperation activities, said Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, when discussing the agenda of the upcoming visit of the First Secretary of the Havana Party Committee.

Tuyen, on behalf of the authorities and people of Hanoi, announced Hanoi's decision to send 2,000 tons of rice to Cuba. The shipment is expected to arrive in Cuba in September 2023.

Tuyen urged Hanoi authorities to speed up the process so that the package arrived in Cuba as soon as possible.

"The authorities and people of Hanoi always want to share the concerns of the government and people of La Habana," she said.

Tuyen said Hanoi hopes to develop bilateral relations with La Habana and foster cooperation between the two sides in urban development, agriculture, trade, education and training, political systemization, and health care.

Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén appreciated the rice package sent to the Cuban people by the authorities and people of Hanoi.

He said that the exchange of high-ranking officials between Vietnam and Cuba today partly determines the success of the upcoming visit of Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, First Secretary of the La Habana Party Committee.

The ambassador believed that the two capitals would be able to make new achievements in the near future based on their strengths.

He assured that the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam would work with the authorities in Hanoi to visit the First Secretary of La Habana a success.
