Hanoi to open 91 spring flower markets for Tet holiday
Anh Kiet 21:56, 2022/12/19
Visiting Hanoi flower markets to buy bonsais, house adornment stuff, or flowers for Tet decoration is an elegant hobby for many Hanoians.

More than 90 spring flower markets are set to be opened across Hanoi so guests can enjoy shopping and sightseeing during the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year), the most important celebration in Vietnamese culture.

Vietnam's longest traditional holiday will last from January 20 to 26, 2023, and Hanoi will play host to an extensive range of flower markets from January 1 to 23, 2023.

Guests visiting the markets can purchase a wide variety of flowers, ornamental plants, fruit trees, and handicraft products, which are typical of the festive season.

Particularly, Hanoi's downtown district of Hoan Kiem will host a flower market in Hang Ma ward whilst Hai Ba Trung District will have three flower markets in Mo market, Thong Nhat park, and Tuoi Tre park.

Besides, Thanh Xuan District will open two markets close to Nhan Chinh Lake and Kim Giang Street. Hoang Mai District will have two markets close to Den Lu market and Hoang Liet street.

More markets will be opened up in other districts around the city. Bac Tu Liem District is set to have five markets, meanwhile, seven markets will be held in Tay Ho District and nine others in Ha Dong District.

Flower markets in Hanoi must comply with the requirements of safety and order, traffic safety, fire prevention, fire extinguishing, and environmental sanitation. Fees for renting commercial space and parking vehicles at flower markets must comply with the current regulations of the municipal authorities.

The people's committees of communes, wards, and districts must be responsible for coordinating closely with police forces and traffic inspectors to supervise flower markets. Local shoppers must comply with the motto “Safety - Civilization - Efficiency”, and unauthorized flower markets must be disbanded.

Hanoi's Department of Transport has been tasked with ensuring traffic safety and avoiding congestion around the flower markets, while the city's Department of Natural Resources and Environment is responsible for collecting waste and ensuring environmental sanitation.

Tet is the biggest and most important festival in Vietnam. Visiting Hanoi flower markets to buy bonsais, house adornment stuff, or flowers for Tet decoration is an elegant hobby for many Hanoians. People visit the market not only to buy flowers but also to enjoy the Tet atmosphere.

The markets open only once a year. This time, they are bustling with vendors who are gardeners from the flower villages around Hanoi, such as Nghi Tam, Quang Ba, and Tay Tuu.

In addition to traditional flowers and bonsai blossoms of peach, chrysanthemum, violet, daffodil, and kumquat, many imported flowers, such as orchids, tulips, and hydrangeas, are also for sale. The vivid flowers help create a lively Tet atmosphere in the capital that cannot be found anywhere else in the country.
