Hanoi, Foreign Ministry partner to enhance city's position and image

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will strengthen cooperation with Hanoi to continue enhancing the position and image of the capital.

Given Hanoi's special position as the capital and a hub for international exchange and cooperation, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to coordinate efforts with the city to promote external relations in all fields, especially in dissemination of the values of the tangible and intangible cultural heritages as well as the titles “the City for Peace" and "the Creative City,” Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung has said.

At the meeting with Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Head of the municipal Party Commission for Education and Communications Nguyen Van Phong on October 21, Mr. Trung congratulated the city on successful organization of the 17th City Party Congress for the term 2020-2025 and thanked Hanoi for the coordination and support for the ministry in the implementation of the Party and State’s foreign policy.

Mr. Trung also emphasized that Hanoi should focus its investment on the conservation and promotion of the monument’s values; disseminating on intangible cultural heritages such as Ca tru, culture and cuisine of the capital in the world. The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Hanoi is recognized by the UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage

For his part, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for assisting Hanoi in foreign affairs activities over the past years. 

Mr. Phong said the Resolution of the 17th Congress of the City Party Committee has identified the goal of making Hanoi a city capable of competing with its peers in the region and the world, and a global city by 2045. In the coming years, Hanoi will continue to enhance foreign affairs activities, especially international economic relations.

Hanoi also identifies cultural resources and people as an important driving force for sustainable development. In order to achieve these goals, Hanoi expects to receive the support and assistance from central agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Along with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hanoi wishes to organize major cultural and sports events, turning them into periodical celebrations and expand cooperation with major capitals and cities in the world.
