Ha Phuong 15:12, 2017/05/11
Street food can be found on Hanoi old quarter, and down many of the side streets and alleyways.
Tong Duy Tan Str.
Tong Duy Tan Str., Street food in Hanoi.
Tong Duy Tan Str., the famous food street in Hanoi is slightly away from the traveller area of the city. It’s a stretch of simple, tasty, outdoor stalls with plastic stools and low tables serving street specialties.
Clientele is mainly local with a small number of devoted travellers. There are loads of different options. It's a good place to sample a range of Hanoi favourites. Food Street's busy into the night with revellers often passing by for a post-party snack.  The menu’s limited to Banh Cuon, Pho and a couple of other noodle-based dishes, but the food’s tasty, there’s a good through-breeze and the owners are welcoming. I also had some great grilled prawns near this junction.

For something different, Puku and Southgate are also located on Tong Duy Tan Str.. In theory it’s a pedestrian thoroughfare, but this seems to encourage especially mindless motorcycle antics. The restaurant is located in the food street of Hanoi, and close to some important positions: railway station, museum. Once coming to the restaurant, you will be satisfied with everything you are offered here. Ngon Villa Restaurant is a culinary destinations taste of street food, good food, clean, professional service and beautiful space. Ngon Villa is an address you must to go when you come to Hanoi.
Ta Hien Str.

Ta Hien Str..
Ta Hien is a small street lying in famous Old Quarter of Hanoi, near Hoan Kiem Lake. The street just stretch 200 meters, but it is one of the most crowded streets in Old Quarter particularly and in Hanoi generally. Ta Hien has the most specific features of both old Hanoi and modern Hanoi. It is named “international crossroad”, drawing many foreign visitors and also Hanoi people.
On the small and crowded street of Ta Hien, you can find variety of best Hanoi street foods such as Nem chua, Vietnamese bread, noodles, sweet porridges,… Especially, in summer, Ta Hien is famous for beer.
Summer in Hanoi is quite hot. And that is the reason why people choose cool beer as a preferable drinking. In the afternoon, hundreds foreign travelers and Vietnamese people gather in this small street and enjoy a cup of iced beer after a hard-working day. They just sit on a small-sized plastic chair, hold their beer mug, order some snack foods and chat with their friends. Other foreigners would like to sit in corner of the street and watch the daily life as well as the very charming clutter of Hanoi.

There are lots kinds of beer for you to choose, including draught beer, bottled beer, cask ale or black beer. Vietnamese beer is reviewed sweet and pretty slight, so you can take more than 5 mugs without getting drunk. The snack foods to serve with the beer are also diverse, from traditional ones such as nem Phung, fried nem, nem, boiled peanut to Western ones such as fried chip, cheese stick,… The prices are generally cheap.

If you like sweet things, stop by Trà Chanh (lemon iced tea) or che thap cam (Hanoi dessert). Then you can get a chance to enjoy delicious variations of Chè. Chè can also be found in Dao Duy Tu streets or at any streets in the Old Quarter, especially in Summer of Hanoi.
Dao Duy Tu is next to Ta Hien street but the menu  and customers of its are not as plentiful as in Ta Hien street. However, famous lemon tea shops attracts a lot of young people to creat exciting atmosphere for the street. Hanoi teenagers like to gather in Dao Duy Tu not only because it is the home of lemon tea but also lemon tea here tastes more delicious for scent of jasmine in it.
Besides of lemon tea, Dao Duy Tu is also known for Phu Ly rolled cake or rice with grilled pork which is very tasty and affodable. In Hanoi it's hard to find a good Rice with grilled pork, a dish much more prevalent in Ho Chi Minh City. This is one of the few places to offer it, along with a good range of other dishes.

There are actually three places here all labelled as “47”, though two of them have the same logos and are clearly part of the same brand. I went to the largest building with the red and yellow “47” logo outside.
