Hanoi focuses on developing key tourism products

Hanoi should concentrate on developing major tourism products, namely cultural tourism and traditional craft village tourism.

In particular, Hanoi needs to pay attention to tourism development in the world heritage sites which include Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace Historical Site, walking street around Hoan Kiem Lake, Bat Trang ceramic village, Van Phuc silk village, Duong Lam ancient village, etc., stressed Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang at the meeting with Hanoi Department of Tourism on March 21.
The Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee also emphasized the need to attract all resources to develop tourism. It is also needed to increase systematic, formal and professional training and update for the team of more than 6,500 tour guides in Hanoi.
In addition, the Hanoi government should strengthen the effectiveness of state management of tourism, mainly focusing on building a safe and friendly tourist environment for visitors, according to the Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang.
In the year 2017, Hanoi has launched a cooperation program to propagate and advertise images about history, culture and the people of Hanoi as well as Vietnam on CNN International Channel for the period 2017-2018. The Hanoi tourism portal on global network has been developed for managers, businesses, organizations and tourists to exchange, explore, transact, trade tourism products and services, etc., according to Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Duc Hai.
The number of international tourists to Hanoi has been growing at an impressive rate, averaging 18% per annum (for the period 2015-2018) and for the first two months of 2018, up 31% over the same period last year (reaching 1,503,186 visitors;) total revenue from tourists in two months reached 13,251 billion dong, up 12% year-over-year, according to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Tourism.
