Hanoi enhances cooperation with Belarus' localities in car production
Hanoi will tighten relations with Belarus’ localities, which have many potential strengths in the manufacturing industry, especially car production.
Hanoi is willing to strengthen cooperation with Belarus to produce cars, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Hung said at a meeting with visiting Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko on September 24.
Hung affirmed that the relationship between Hanoi and Belarus’ localities, especially this country’s capital city of Minsk, has seen numerous achievements in the past time, but the two sides' current exchange is still not commensurate with their bilateral potential.
Hung hopes that based on the cooperation with Minsk, Hanoi will tighten relations with Belarus’ localities, which have many potential strengths in the manufacturing industry, especially car production.
As Hanoi is focusing on infrastructure development, Hung emphasized the importance of importing and manufacturing transport machinery and equipment from European partners, including Belarus.
He added that in the coming time, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, Hanoi Corporation of Transport will coordinate with Belarusian authorities and experts to build a joint venture to manufacture and assemble cars in accordance with Southeast Asian standards.
The Hanoi official noted that, with the premise of joint efforts in technology transfer and machinery and equipment manufacturing, the two sides would expand cooperation in many other fields.
Hung believes Lyashenko's visit will contribute to promoting more concrete and practical cooperation, adding that Hanoi’s authority commits to give top priority to creating conditions for both sides to work together.
For his part, Lyashenko affirmed that, Vietnam is among Belarus' important partners in Asia and is a leading gateway for Belarus to penetrate the ASEAN market.
Over the time, businesses of the two countries have exchanged experiences and enhanced ties. Two-way trade turnover in 2018 increased significantly, but has not been proportionate with the two countries' potential, the Belarusian deputy PM said.
He added that the two countries are looking forward to new types of cooperation, such as building production joint ventures to meet their needs, firstly in the field of manufacturing and assembling cars in Vietnam.
