Hanoi determines to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector
With the aims to develop Hanoi`s tourism industry into one of the key economic sector, the municipal Party Secretary Hoang Trung Hai has issued a resolution on tourism development for 2016 - 2020 period.
The resolution showed that in recent years, the period from 2007 to 2015, the municipal tourism sector has tried its best efforts and achieved a lot of positive results, remaining an annual growth rate.
According to the resolution, the city's number of tourists accounts for about one third of all visitors of the country, an average increase of over 10% per year.
In 2015, Hanoi city welcomed 3.26 million international tourists and 16.43 million domestic passengers.
In the past years, the capital has been considered to be one of the biggest tourist centers across the country, becoming one of the 10 most attractive tourist destinations in Asia. The total income from tourism sector has increased steadily at the annual growth rate of over 15%, and reaching nearly 55,000 billion VND in 2015, the resolution pointed out.
However, the municipal tourism sector has still faced many difficulties has not taken full of its potentials and strengths.
To create a breakthrough in developing the city's tourism into among the its key economic sectors with high value growth and greater competitiveness, under the resolution, by 2020 Hanoi strives to welcome about 30 million passengers, including 5.7 million international tourists with the average growth rate of 8-10% annually. The municipal tourism targets to achive 120.000 billion VND from its revenue by 2020, an average growth rate of 15-17% year-on-year.
Particularly, in the time ahead, Hanoi will select strategic investors for some projects, including the developments of tourism services in West Lake area, the two sides of the Red River, Nhat Tan - Noi Bai area, a national tourism zone of Ba Vi - Suoi Hai and Huong Son - Quan Son lake - Tuy Lai landscape areas.
The city is scheduled to build an international exhibition and fairs center, and form some commercial business areas and modern shopping centers in the future.
Hanoi will invest to construct some modern parking areas, roads, streets, gardens and unique landscapes to attract more visitors to the city in the coming time.
