Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh gave the remarks at the Thang Long Entrepreneur Gala 2022 held on October 10 by the Hanoi Business Association (HBA).
According to Thanh, the business community is an indispensable part of the economy that helps mobilize resources for socioeconomic development.
"Businesses play an important role in the ongoing economic restructuring and in addressing social problems while contributing to the government's efforts to boost growth, eradicate poverty, create jobs and promote social welfare," he said.
Thanh said the city is carrying out several supporting policies for businesses, including support for new business establishments, providing access to bank credits, assisting them in training human resources, and facilitating trade and investment activities.
The city's mayor noted investment and support policies, as well as contributions from incubator centers, have supported the development of creative startups.
"Throughout these programs, many businesses in Hanoi have achieved successes, in which some startups have gained major prizes in national startup competitions," he said.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Thanh highlighted the support from the business community to the city’s overall efforts to protect public health, which showcases their social responsibilities during the difficult time.
Thanh, on this occasion, expressed his appreciation for the contribution of businesses to Hanoi’s construction and development.
Meanwhile, HBA Chairman Nguyen Hong Son said on the 68th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day, the event, taking place after two years of disruption due to the pandemic, is to honor enterprises in Hanoi for their outstanding socio-economic contributions to the city.
Son expected the HBA to continue serving as the platform for business matching and dialogues between enterprises and the city’s leaders.
In this regard, Hanoi Chairman Thanh stressed the importance of HBA in facilitating the linkage between local authorities and the business community, especially in the policy consultation for sustainable and stable development of businesses.
Thanh called for the business community to continue promoting solidarity, creativity, and innovation in creating changes in productivity, competitiveness, and corporate governance, building brands of products from Hanoi on regional and international markets.
“Hanoi’s authorities are committed to accompanying the business community in its development process, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the prosperity of Hanoi,” Thanh said.
