The move was agreed upon during a meeting between Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Le Hong Son and Austrian Ambassador to Vietnam Hans-Peter Glanzer today [April 7], on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.
According to Glanzer, the Austrian Embassy plans to hold a conference on public and urban transport on June 15 in Hanoi, expecting the event to serve as a platform to share experiences between Austrian and Vietnamese experts on the issue.
For his part, Vice Chairman of the municipal Party Committee Le Hong Son noted the city seeks close cooperation with Austria in sustainable urban development, especially in the application of modern technologies in urban technical infrastructure management and construction.
Son also expected Hanoi and localities in Austria to promote strong partnerships in new fields such as education and training, healthcare, logistics, biotech, and chemical production.
During the process of socio-economic recovery, Son said Hanoi is pushing for administrative reform and applying IT in the operation of public apparatus.
“Hanoi also pays attention to addressing concerns of the businesses and accelerating public investment to spur growth,” he added, noting the city is aiming to become greener, and smarter, with high competitiveness in the region and the world.
Son suggested Austria support Hanoi in realizing the project of promoting Hanoi’s cultural industry by applying technologies in the preservation and promotion of cultural values.
In this regard, Glanzer added a concert is scheduled to be held in Hanoi in October with the participation of Austrian and Vietnamese artists, as part of the efforts to strengthen cultural exchange between the two countries.
As of present, Austria has nine investment projects in Hanoi with total registered capital of US$3.74 million. Hanoi’s exports to Austria in the first quarter of 2022 were estimated at $6.2 million, mainly footwear, electronics, garment, and imports of $69.5 million, including pharmaceutical products, plastics, and machinery. |
