These technology parks in the three major cities will give priority to the development of IT services and products with a high added value.

Vietnam will establish 16-20 concentrated information technology (IT) parks, mainly in five major cities of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, Haiphong, Cantho and other regions with strong IT development.

This goal is set out in the Information and Communication Infrastructure Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision for 2050, recently approved by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.

By combining the digital space with traditional physical development and creating an environment conducive to innovation to enhance national competitiveness, the approved plan opens up new socio-economic development opportunities.

Successful implementation of the plan will create momentum and opportunities for the information and communications sector to fully realize the potential and benefits of the industry, leading to rapid, inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development, according to the plan.

By 2030, two to three new IT parks will be established in Hanoi, Danang, Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding regions. These technology parks in the three major cities will give priority to the development of high value-added IT services and products.

The construction of concentrated IT parks aims to intensify the transition of industrial parks and other types of zones towards the production of high-value-added digital products, promoting innovation and sustainable green development.

The plan also emphasizes upgrading and expanding connectivity between concentrated IT parks in certain localities, transforming them into major regional IT hubs, including R&D centers of major IT corporations.

According to the plan, the development of the IT industry will be based on digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (Al), big data, blockchain, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things. It will also strengthen the application of digital technologies in all areas to form a digital technology industry.
