Hanoi accelerates key transport projects
Ngoc Mai 17:35, 2023/02/10
The completion of major transport projects would lay the foundation for Hanoi’s socio-economic development.

A delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Duong Duc Tuan on February 9 inspected the construction sites of several key transport projects in the city.

The delegation visited the construction site of the overpass bridge at the An Duong - Thanh Nien intersection, the upgrading and renovation of Xuan Dieu street, and the construction of Ring Road 3.5.

During the inspection, Director of the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board Nguyen Chi Cuong, informed that the overpass bridge at the An Duong - Thanh Nien intersection is aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the Ba Dinh and Tay Ho districts.

The project is split into four components with two main construction packages, Cuong said.

According to Cuong, the Project Management Board has held meetings with contractors to speed up the progress of the project. They agreed on a detailed timeline, with construction activities set to commence on February 15th.

“The aim is to complete the work before the flood season in mid-June,” he stated.

At present, the project still faces some issues, such as the relocation of the 110Kv Tay Ho underground cable.

The overpass bridge is scheduled to complete in mid-2024.

In addition, a designated area for the dumping of excavated soil is needed and the project is awaiting a solution from the Department of Construction, Cuong said.

Regarding the project to upgrade and renovate Xuan Dieu Street, Chairman of Tay Ho District People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Khuyen reported that the project has completed the asphalting of the roadway for daily traffic.

Currently, the project is facing difficulties in clearing the land as 15 families have not agreed to the compensation plan. Only four have accepted it.

Khuyen suggested the Hanoi People's Committee approve the application of specific residential land prices for the project to ensure fairness for those who have already received compensation and handed over their premises.

This will also ensure consistency in policies for a project and bring it to completion in the fourth quarter of 2023, Khuyen said.

Pham Gia Loc, Director of the Hoai Duc District Project Management Board, reported on the progress of the construction project of Ring Road 3.5. The total length of the route in Hoai Duc district is 4.9 km, whose construction is divided into two phases.

The first section is 95% complete, while the second is 55% built, and the remaining works are taking place at the Vuon Chuoi site and the connection point of Provincial Highway 422B and the highway of the commune of Di Trach.

Regarding land clearing, the project has finished relocating 100% of the residential and agricultural areas.

During the inspection, Hanoi People's Committee Vice Chairman Duong Duc Tuan praised the efforts made by investors and contractors in these important projects.

"These projects aim to synchronize infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion, improve travel convenience and safety, and serve as a foundation for socio-economic development," Tuan said.

However, Tuan stressed that there are still many challenges to be addressed to ensure its completion on time.

He called on investors and contractors to make further efforts, including mobilizing sufficient construction machinery and human resources.

“Any issue should be promptly reported to the Hanoi People's Committee so that they can be resolved and the key traffic projects can be inaugurated on time,” Tuan stressed.

For the 2021-2025 period, Hanoi sets to earmark VND650 trillion (US$28.4 billion) for the public investment plan, which is seen as a key solution for the city to realize its five-year socio-economic development plan.
