Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has invited China Pacific Construction Group and Chinese enterprises to actively explore Vietnam's major infrastructure projects for potential participation. 

The invitation was extended at a meeting on December 9 with a delegation of 18 companies from the Zhang and Yan clans, led by Yan Jiehe, founder and chairman of China Pacific Construction Group, who are visiting Vietnam to seek cooperation and investment opportunities.

The projects include the construction of the Tu Lien Bridge, the Ngoc Hoi Bridge over the Red River, and the urban railway section linking Van Cao, Ngoc Khanh, Lang, and Hoa Lac in Hanoi. Other potential projects include a metro line linking Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport to Long Thanh Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai, as well as cross-border railways from the northern province of Lao Cai to Hanoi and the northern city of Haiphong, and from the northern province of Lang Son to Hanoi.

At the meeting, the prime minister affirmed that the government encourages Chinese companies to expand investment in areas where China has strengths and Vietnam has high demand, especially infrastructure development, with a focus on transportation. Other areas include innovation, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things. In addition, green development, renewable energy, smart urban infrastructure, and high-end manufacturing are priorities for investment.

He stressed the importance of time, intelligence, and determination in project implementation and advocated a spirit of dedication and shared benefits, as well as mutual understanding and cooperation for joint success and development.

Chinh also expressed his appreciation for China Pacific Construction Group's cooperation and proposals for the development of key infrastructure in Vietnam.  

Yan Jiehe and the group leaders pledged to actively explore its involvement in the above-mentioned projects and ensure timely, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery under the motto of "the best, cheapest, highest quality and fastest."

The business leader also made several recommendations on investment and cooperation. He reiterated the group's belief in Vietnam as a second home and its commitment to grow with the country.

Yan Jiehe is the founder of China Pacific Construction Group and Susun Construction Group, both among the world's top 500 companies. In 2023, China Pacific Construction Group's revenue was nearly US$80 billion.

Trade between Vietnam and China has quadrupled over the past decade, making China Vietnam's largest import market while Vietnam is China's largest trading partner within ASEAN.

So far, China is the 6th largest investor among 146 partners in Vietnam. In the first 11 months of 2024, China became the top investor for new projects in Vietnam.
