Ha Noi - Saitama promotes economic cooperation

Hanoi is working hard to create more favourable conditions for Japan enterprises to invest in the city.
On November 7, Vice Chairman of Ha Noi People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Doan Toan welcomed the delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship League in Saitama Parliament (Japan).
Leader of the delegation was Mr. Seiji Suzuki, President of the ASEAN Parliamentary Friendship League under the Saitama Provincial Parliamentary Assembly (Japan).

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Nguyen Doan Toan shared about the current socio-economic situation as well as development plans in future. With the current population growth rate, Hanoi is facing challenges in transport and environment. At the same time, the city also needs to attract investment capital, develop economy and create jobs for employees and establish high quality human resources. Therefore, Hanoi's potential for investment in infrastructure development, industrial parks, and application of high-quality technology remains high.

According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Nguyen Doan Toan, Hanoi is a potential market for Japanese investors as well as Saitama prefecture, and affirmed cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in general as well as Hanoi and Saitama is in development trend.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee wished Saitama prefecture will increase investment in more projects in Hanoi in the future. The City authorities always create the best conditions for Japanese enterprises in general and Saitama prefecture in particular when investing in Hanoi.
Thanks to the support of the Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Doan Toan, Mr. Seiji Suzuki affirmed that Saitama businesses are very interested in economic investment in Vietnam, especially Hanoi. There are currently 34 enterprises from Saitama operating in Hanoi. The potential and cooperation strength between Vietnam and Japan is growing. Besides, Mr. Seiji Suzuki shared that the purpose of this visit was to strengthen cooperation exchanges between the two countries as well as Hanoi and Saitama prefecture in the up comming time.
In advance, during a reception in Hanoi on November 2 for Governor of Saitama prefecture Kiyoshi Ueda, Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang said over the past more than two decades, Japan has always been the largest donor of Vietnam with a total official development assistance amounting to nearly 25-27 billion USD, mostly for infrastructure.
Japan has been the second largest investor in Vietnam with more than 3,500 valid projects worth upwards 46 billion USD. It is also the sixth largest trade partner with roughly 30 billion USD in two-way trade. Vietnam is improving the business climate to create a level playing field for all firms, he said, adding that the country welcomes Japanese investors, including those from Saitama prefecture, to expand investment in the country.
According to Governor Kiyoshi Ueda, this is his fifth visit to Vietnam since he took office in 2012. The prefecture and the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MoPI) signed a memorandum of understanding to create favourable conditions for Saitama’s firms to do business in Vietnam.
Saitama Office in the MoPI’s Foreign Investment Agency specialises in providing assistance for Japanese enterprises in Vietnam. Among 47 Japanese cities and provinces, Saitama ranks fifth in economic size and gross domestic product and is home to large-scale plants in the fields of industry, technology, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
